The Fire Code

Ordinance #264 was adopted on September 16, 2025 by the Board of Trustees and establishes the current “Fire Code” for the District. Ordinance #264 adopts the 2021 edition of the International Fire Code (IFC) along with the 2021 edition of the NFPA Life Safety Code 101. The Ordinance contains several modifications to the IFC.

Both the 2021 edition of the International Fire Code (IFC) along with the 2021 edition of the NFPA Life Safety Code 101 are available for review at our administrative headquarters located at 333 W. Nebraska St. Frankfort, IL 60423.

The District’s previous “Fire Code” had been established with the adoption of Ordinance #245 in 2020. Ordinance #264 repeals Ordinance #245.

Areas of Jurisdiction

The code applies to the portions of the Village of Frankfort protected by the District via Village of Frankfort ordinance that adopts the code.

The code applies to the portions of the Village of Mokena protected by the District via Village of Mokena ordinance that adopts the code.

Any non-incorporated portion of the District.
